SPEA / MMPC RALLY AT SOMERVILLE CITY HALL
Updated On: Jul 30, 2016
MMPC members gather with MMPC "Strength in Unity" t-shirts to hear MMPC Vice President Mike McGrath speak

Approximatley 200 members from the MMPC, Somerville Police Employee's Association, Verizon IBEW Local 2222, Somerville Firefighters Local 76, and the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts attended a rally at Somerville City Hall on July 29th to show solidarity at Mayor Joe Curtatone's refusal to remove a Black Lives Matter banner from the entrance of City Hall.  The SPEA asked Mayor Curtanone to take the banner down in response to escalating violence against law enforcement across the United States that has occured at BLM protests.  SPEA asked that the banner be replaced with a Life Matters banner.

The like below is a video of SPEA President Mike McGrath and MMPC President Harry MacGilvray speaking at the rally.
